One of my favorite sites is Columbia Journalism Review. They take a critical eye on how we the media report our stories and I enjoy learning from their analysis of how journalists could have done a better job reporting a particular story.

I covered the health care bill last year and found this story in CJR today that was particularly interesting, re the revolving door. Trudy Lieberman notes that Liz Fowler, a former aide to Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont.  and a key figure in writing the health care bill is heading to Health and Human Services as deputy director of the Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight. The issue is that Fowler used to be a lobbyist for Wellpoint, one of the insurance companies she will now be overseeing. Lieberman questions whether she’ll be impartial to the insurance industry because of that background.
