There is a big question mark about whether news organizations can put their content behind a paywall and make readers pay for stories. Many don’t think it will work because Internet users are used to paying nothing for content. Recent efforts aren’t encouraging. The British newspaper, the London Times, is trying out a paywall strategy, but it isn’t going so well. According to a Huffington Post story, the rate of subscribers is lower than is necessary to make the model work.
